I have two little boys and they love to eat.. but lately they don't seem to like chicory very much and they are a little picky on cilantro. When I give them these veggies they leave them... can guinea pigs go through phases? Just curious..

Thanks

All pigs are different and they all like different things, I dont think theres many pigs which like everything :)

They do it on purpose to confuse you ;D ;D ;D one week Fugly would adore beetroot it would be 1st thing out of the bowl and then another time he would leave it with a few bites out, they like to keep you on your toes

Piggies also like different foods my boy Bubble loved carrots while Fugly treats them as well I will eat it if there is nothing better

Mine are fusssy little people and if I feed them alot of one thing they tend to get bored of it.They seem to like a variety.Bit like people!

My girls don't eat carrot at all, although I still put a piece in for them. Basil shreds his - like he's giving his teeth exercise - but doesn't seem to eat much of it. They never tire of cucumber, but have "gone off" sweetheart cabbage.
I see you give (or gave) yours beetroot, M - I never thought of that. Do you just buy a whole raw one and give them a slice? What about the leaves?

Sue the leaves are a NO NO for piggies but the bulb part is fine O0 lol imagine the colour of their chinnies awwwwwww and their wee's ::) ;D ;D
so don't panick when they have it O0

I agree with everyone they're so changeable, i tend to find it's seasonal when the veggies and fruits are at their best they ADORE them but if they're coolstore or too old...nup no way except for apple for some reason Duke loves older apples ::) ;D ;D
Don't worry love, just offer other veggies / fruits and keep up with the hay and pellets O0

Fuglys purple poos make me laugh ;D ;D ;D ;D

He does get in a mess eating beetroot and as he is pale it all shows up and when he has baby tomatoes he gets the seeds all down his chin (and up my walls) you gotta love them havent you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Mine won't touch cucumber though I still put it in the bowl occasionally. I've never tried them on beetroot but will buy some tomorrow. I gave them raspberry's yesterday & all as they did was trample in them & leave little pink footprints everywhere. Coco has little pink patches in her fur & Jonathan, my son, had lovely pink footprints on his school shirt when he picked Coco up, needless to say he had to get changed again before going to school.

Thanks Glynis - and yes, I can imagine a beetroot coloured chin. Mind you, Basil's grey fur turns green from cucumber!

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have laughed, but your description of tiny raspberry coloured footprints on a shirt did bring a big smile!

Dont wash that shirt you should keep it complete with footprints and auction it here you could make a fortune ;D ;D

I've never tried mine with beetroot but think I will now (but will remember not to pick them up afterwards until they've cleaned their fee)

Mine love raw beetroot but they prefer it if I take the skin off and slice it. Very high in Vitamin C, apparently.
I have never fed them beetroot leaves as I believe they are not good for them, or could be poisonous.

Yes, the poos and wees are red or pinky coloured afterwards which can be a shock if you forget that you fed them beetroot the day or so before! :o

I wouldn't give Piggy's the leaves from beetroot. Just like rhubarb leaves > poisonous.

Tried mine on beetroot & beansprouts yesterday They were not very impressed. They liked mango though but it made their wee a funny colour...almost the same shade as the mango !
