Any advice on how to hold him while I feed him? Yesterday afternoon he wasn't too resistant but from yesterday evening, when he perked up a little, he has not wanted to co-operate. He just won't keep his head still enough to get the syringe in. I got up in the night to feed him and i only managed the fibreplaex before he became too wriggly to feed. He's a big male pig and very strong!

I manage my wriggly piggy by taking him in my lap, him facing away from me slightly to the right. Then I place my left hand just below his front legs and lift his upper body up to a kind of sitting position. Using my index finger and thumb I'm able to control his head a bit, and then I pop the syringe in from the right side of his mouth. For me the trick is not to let him see the syringe. Also I have to be fast in inserting the syringe, before he catches up what's going on and starts to move his head around. I syringe about 0.3 ml and then let him down to catch a break before next portion. Sometimes when I'm not quick enough with the syringe and he starts wriggling, I just let him down again and start over.

I will try it. A good idea to not let him see it coming. Thank you.

Both boys went back to the vet this morning as Fitz - the piggy with dental problems- was supposed to have his teeth done. The nurse tried to have a look in his mouth but Fitz wasn't very co-operative. She weighed him again and he is steadily losing weight. He is eating and pooping, isn't drooling and doesn't seem to be in pain at the moment. She advised not treating him at the moment but monitoring him carefully. If he stops eating or looks like he is in pain then they will have to do something but they were worried about giving an anaesthetic to an underweight piggy.

Adric is still a little perkier. He is eating small amounts on his own and I have just seen him eat a few pellets and have a drink- he has not done this for several days. We will try and get some extra food into him but he is resisting strongly. We might try and get some extra into Fitz as well although he will be even harder to feed as he is always a wriggly pig!
