Just been out to feed the girls and Connie is hunched up and not moving an awful lot :( She also has soft but not smelly poops. Eliza was laying vertually on top of her. What is wrong with her? I think that she is going to be gatecrashing Eliza's vets visit. Why are both my girls unwell :0

Oh Claire! Could be an upset tum, hope it is nothing too serious (((hugs))) thinking of you and your girls. x

Oh Claire, I'm so sorry to hear this. Good luck at the vets with both of them, and let us know. You're meant to be going away today aren't you? If necessary, would the vets keep the girls in over the weekend so they can be looked after?

Thanks Sue. I am going to take them with me again like I did at christmas x

Oh Claire so sorry to hear connie is poorly.
I will be thinking of you all and hope all goes well at the vets x

Oh no Claire. I'm sorry to hear that both girls are unwell. I know it's a long shot, but as both girls are affected, could they have an allergy to something they are being fed? I hope the vets visit goes well :)

I'm sorry things are getting worse for poor Connie. Good luck at the vets, let us know how they get on.

Thank you for your replies :) It isn't great for Connie as she is quite ill :( She has lost some weight, has a temperature, is dehydrated, disorientated and a little wobbly on her feet :0 The vet has given her 2 injections to try and boost her and she starts on antibiotics yet again tomorrow. The vet said it is a good idea me taking them with us whilst we away in nottingham as Connie needs to be watched like a hawk. If she gets any worse or no better in a day or too, I must take her straight to a vet. Luckily, there is one near my parents where I use to take my rabbit. She has also been given a pro biotic and I have been advised to syringe water in to her. Poor little baby :(
As for Eliza, she has no blood in her urine and is in tip top healthy apart from the red / orange wee. Because there is no blood or any symtoms, Eliza hasn't been prescribed antibiotics. If it continues, she would like to have a closer look at a urine sample just to make sure there isn't anything there such as crystals developing.
In away, I am pleased it has happened now and not tomorrow as now at least I can now take them with me and watch over them. If Connie has became poor;y again whilst we were away, I suppose it could have been fatal xx

I'm glad you have some good news, but I am sorry to hear Connie is so unwell. Did the vet give Connie any subcutaneous (injected) fluids? She should have had at least one lot of these if dehydration was diagnosed.

I am wondering if all the melon, cucumber and lettuce isn't having the opposite effect it should? In moderation, and in an otherwise nutritious diet, highly watery veggies can help with water intake. But when the diet is made up from mostly watery veg and not many of excellent nutrition (peppers, coriander, even a sprig of parsley) the nutrition is not being balanced enough. So the watery veg, being such a big part of Connie's diet, are acting more as a diuretic (which would explain the dehydration). Just something to think about maybe.

Yes, the vet gave her 2 lots of injections. One was a steroid injection. I also feed them salad bags that contain lettuces, carrots, peppers etc and stir fry. I think I shall cut back on the melon and cucumber now xx

Hi Claire, Just read you thread, I'm sorry to hear about Connie, is she eating at all, keep tempting her with the food she likes. I know it is hard to come by in winter, but fresh grass and dandelion leaves. Hope she picks up soon poor girl, keep us posted. Have you got any critical care just in case?:(

I'm sorry to hear that Connie is poorly. I keep my fingers crossed that things improve for her. Glad to hear that Eliza is fighting fit :)

Oh Claire am sorry to see Connie's so ill :( Sending her lots of healing vibes & thinking about you :)

Hi all.
Well, the good news is that Connie is eating and drinking like mad again and has been since Saturday. She is still unsteady on her feet though but seemed a little better this morning. I really do not understand what is going on with her. Until this morning, she hasn't wanted to walk a lot and has kept her belly to the ground :( She is back at the vets on Friday xx

Love and cuddles to Connie xoxo Do you have a heated pad thing that she might lay on ? I'm not sure what they are called. I just thought that if her belly might be uncomfortable? she may find the warmth soothing. I'm just thinking like humans do find it helpfull to have a hot water bottle.
Lets hope the vet can find out what it is that is causing her ill health :)
