I had a message recently from a forum member in central Scotland who’s piggy needs regular dental treatment. Their vet suggested it may be kinder to have their piggy PTS rather than it go through regular GAs.

I am unable to reply to the message as the member is new and does not have 50 posts so am adding this thread in the hope they see it.

I can recommend an excellent dental vet in central Scotland - Glenn Hodgson at Apex Vets in Denny is the vet to see. He did my piggy Toffee's teeth regularly without GA. He has also done my pigs Ebony and Sherbet both again without GA. Some other members have had their pig teeth done there too. On one occasion I believe he did give a mild sedative to a pig as he (the pig not the vet) was very stressed - but no GA.

This vet without a doubt saved Toffees life at the time. She has since passed but suddenly and not related to her teeth.

When he first saw Toffee her teeth were in a bad state and he guessed she would need them done every few weeks .... but after a couple of dentals she could go 3 mths without needing them done.

If anyone else has anything to add to this please do. Anyone else had dentals done there too ? Or have other conscious dental vets to recommend in Central Scotland ? I hope the forum member comes on and sees this soon.

xx

Glen is a fabulous piggy vet - that's very true! He has done two of my pig's teeth one with valium as he's wired to the ceilings (not the most laid back pig in the world) and another without sedation. Both recovered well and GA's where not needed. :)
