Hi there

My pigs are 15 weeks old now and we've had them since Christmas.
I've recently changed from sawdust to fleece, which they love and use a litter tray with sawdust and hay which they use for the majority of their toileting.
They have a fabric, fleece bed which they have recently starting wee-ing. I'm changing it daily as I don't want them smelling but wondered if this was normal?
I didn't think they'd wee in their bed, they didn't at first but now wee in it as soon as I change it.
Do I just keep changing it everyday?
I'm cleaning them out every other day which is not a problem but I might have to buy more beds at this rate!

Mine wee on everything. I would just check they do not have wet bottoms as that is a sign of a uri.

From my understanding piggies have no control when they're sleeping and so it would be expected for them to wee where they sleep!

If someone would change my bed every morning, I probably wouldn't bother with the different room for toilet thing....
Lol. If the bed Is in hidey or covered area that would also explain it as they like to wee under cover.

I have a skinny pig who keeps his couch dry buthas decided that his cosie is a toilet :mal:

Mine wee absolutely everywhere so in answer to your question I think it's normal

Mine are the same, some are tidier then others and vacate but most wee and poo in their beds lol

Wee and poo everywhere - especially in their hidies ,as when you move them them is a big pile of poo.

Oh well that made me smile..... I guess I'll buy more beds then! Thanks for the replies guys x

Yes I change it as soon as it is wet. They cannot lie on wet things as it is not good for their skin.

I've made fleece pads to out under hides that have no bottom, and little inserts to go onto cuddle cups /snuggle beds etc. I change those inserts/pads daily. Snuggle sacs I take out daily for washing. In short I have a large supply of items for beds. Yes, those piggies create almost as much washing as the children!

I have beds with removable bottoms so I just swap the base when needed :)
Ooh where can I buy these? Are they the plastic dog bed types with a pad on the bottom? Should they really have a bed each as they're sharing a bed at the moment but they're growing fast!

mine just pee anywhere. They have a litter tray which is used regularly as well as every other corner and sleeping area

Whereabouts in the world are you? If in Uk and you have a home bargains near you they do some cat beds that are perfect for piggies. Little huts with removable bases. I take these out and when in wash I replace with squares of fleeces doubled and trebled over. That way I can change them every day if needed. If not look on ebay I have a couple of these too in the small size perfect for one or two piggies.

I always provide a bed each that way they have a choice :)
