Cookie is going through the wars at moment. We have a X-ray booked on Friday to check for stones after 3 weeks of Antibiotics, she's still squeaking when weeing and traces of blood in urine.

She's now got what maybe a fungal infection on the side of her neck (we first noticed this sunday when giving her a chin rub) We've just got back from the vets but couldn't see our usual vet as she's on holiday but saw one of her colleagues.

The vet tugged out some hair and is culturing it to find out if and what type of fungus it could be, so we should know more friday... In the meantime we are to wash the fungal area twice a day with Hibiscrub The area is very red were the hair came out from :( She is also on Septrin still until friday, which she said would keep away infection.

Treacle also has a small scab by her lady bits, so that too is being bathed. Megan (touchwood) is showing nothing.

Has anyone had any experience with Hibiscrub against fungal infections?

Oh poor Cookie and Treacy :(

I am so sorry guys, what a rough time? When Toffee and Lilly had fungal infections we washed them with Nizoral Shampoo, followed by sudocream, all was clear and hair growing back with a week or 2.

Healing Vibes and big hus to you and Rach x

Thanks Chloe, feeling quite down about it... She's really had a rough time with this suspected UTI that now looks like it could be a little more complicated...
She's still her lively happy self, such a fantastic little character - although did nibble me quite hard when the vet was inspecting her.. Bless her :))

Poor Cookie, sounds like she's in the wars. :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29:

Oh no how horrible. Poor little babies. I wish there was no such thing as blasted fungal infections. They seem to take ages to go. I really hope they get better soon.

Poor baby. We used Daktarin cream on Bingo's fungal and a dip/shampoo every three days, (both prescribed by the vet) but the name completely escapes me right now!

Oh nooo! Poor Cookie :( keeping my fingers crossed for her and sending healing vibes!

Poor Cookie! Sadly, fungal, mites and other nasties are opportunists that hit when the immune system is low... mallethead

I've never heard of hibiscrub in connection with fungal; it is just a disinfectant for open wounds. If I were you, I'd get some canesten cream.

I cant blame you for feeling low, it is a really good sign though that she is her normal self, so try not to feel too bad, just be careful when handling and wash your hand etc after, i caught a fungal infection from Lilly when he had it. Big hugs xx

I wouldn't use hibiscrub, when Marble had fungal I bathed him in Nizoral once a week and also applied canesten cream, cleared up a treat. Hope theyre both back to their old selfs soon

Have you F10'd the cage and as much of the furniture round about, it will kill any spores in the air x

We have f10 on order should be here tomorrow. We do not know if it is fungal yet, the area is extremely red and inflamed so the hibiscrub is for this not fungal. Hopefully by Friday this will have calmed and the culture will give some indication of the issue. She is back to the vets then for her stone X-ray,and reassement of the skin problem.

Thank you everyone for kind words. She is really well in herself.

Oh I'm sorry to hear about little Cookie, give her a cuddle from me!

If it makes you feel any better, Crumby's fungal has gone now and the hair is growing back well, so it doesn't always take too long! .... Mine however rolleyes :))

I'd second the advice about getting some human fungal cream if it does turn out to be fungal. :)

Sending Cookie lots of healing vibes :laluot_27: :laluot_29:

I hope Cookie gets better soon, and thank you for your kind words about my boy Clive. Can I ask what F10 is though? In case I ever need to know.

F10 is a disinfectant and is used by lots of members and rescues on here to clean cages and hutches. Hope Clive is ok x

Just to update , Cookie is now on canesten cream and Nizoral shampoo.

Cookie and Treacle also had X-rays today for bladder stones due to blood and crying when weeing, and results where negative so very pleased.
We are awaiting urine culture results and trying another antibiotic in meantime, if the blood is caused by bacteria infection it seems to be resistant to Septrin.

Poor babies. How horrible nothing is helping their pain. I really hope it clears soon.

Glad to hear the girls do not have stones - phew! Hopefully Cookie will be all sorted soon, make sure you protect yourselves too!
