I've noticed Cookie's bum has been wet recently and when i get her out she gets it over me and inside the anus area i see some creamy brown liquid. I had to give her a bath just now, to make her feel abit better and see if it goes away.
I've tried to look it up on google and it says that if your guinea pig has a wet bum it could be a sign of a Urinary tract infection but it doesn't say 'and a creamy browny colour'
Her poo looks ok, maybe abit lighter but it's not runny. And she's eating and drinking ok, or i think she has been drinking more, because her water bottle goes down quicker.

What do you think is wrong? do you think she should be taken to the vet? We've never had problems with Cookie, do you think because she's getting older she may start developing problems? she's about 3 or 4 1/2 years old. If i have to take her to the vets, my dad won't be very happy *sigh*

Hi. Try not to worry too much at this stage even though I know it is difficult. There is a member on this forum who has had the same problems with one of her guinea pigs and she has helped me out no end. I have PM'd you her username. One of my guinea pigs, Connie is having some bladder problems at the minute too and many people on the forum are helping me out so I'm sure they will you too. I suggest that you do take her to the vets as if it is a UTI, Cookie will need antibiotics and possibly an X ray to rule out bladder stones. It may not even been a bladder problem but best to see a vet just in case xx

I'd take her to the vets, if only to put your mind at rest. I don't know what's wrong though. Has she been eating lots of carrots? Just thinking they may stain the liquid! mallethead:x?/ As I say, I have no idea! www.guineapiglynx.co.uk is pretty good place to check out too x

cookie has a wet bottom

Hi, I was just reading your thread, and I thought I would reply, I have had a similar problem with one of my sows just lately, the problem is still on going. Does the wee smell stale at all, if so sounds like an infection, but it could also be a bladder stone. A visit to the vet would put your mind at rest, they could xray to check for stones. My sow had a stone removed from her urethra back in november, she was put under anastetic briefly and the stone was pushed out. Unfortunatley only this week I had to send off a sample of her urine to be analysed, still waiting for results should be back next week.

I looked at Cookie's bum when i came back from shopping and it doesn't look so wet now.
oohh, my dad's not gonna like spending a saturday morning or afternoon down the vets lol and the bill..or i suppose i'll have to pay him back because Cookie's my pig.
