Specialist Cookie Is Ill! Fur Problems?

I usually go to me grandparents; I was considering moving in with them; but the problem is massive family arguements and they couldn't have my pets, I have a hamster as well as the two guinea pigs. I'm not leaving the animals here :( but my mother just...makes things hard, she just wants me to do it her way, says I'm miserable and I'm this and this and threatens to kick me out all the time :/

I'm going to take her back to the vet and consider my options. My vet DOES do payment plans depending on how much it is... My local RSPCA branch does financial support too, so that's an option.

I think the decision is slowly slipping out of my hands.

Cookie isn't active today, just sitting with a little bit of wetness around her eyes. Hoping it's nothing. She hasn't eaten much.

I don't want to say it...but the decision might have been made for me. Smudge is staying very close to Cookie... I guess I can just keep her comfy and hope.

I know she does :/ I'm at work in a minute; parents won't take her...she's now munching a little hay but I don't want to leave her.

Instead of listening to me they've sent me to scrub out the indoor cage :/

Nope. Talked to parents and they yelled at me like "Oh she's fine" and apparently it's my fault as I gave her a bath the other day, apparently I gave her a cold and it's my fault; although I made sure she was 100% dry before going back outside. :bye:

Speechless... the vet told you what was wrong and even if she did have a cold she would still need to go to the vets, they can die from URI's... Maybe you ought to contact the RSPCA and see if they can help.

Yeah. I put them out on th grass for a couple of hours and cookie did eat some grass, so that's a bonus, but I do have a feeling I don't have long left with her,

She still needs to go to the vets, sorry for harping on about it but I'm worried she might be in pain. I really do think you ought to try the RSPCA of you cannot get her to a vet.

I'm worried about it too, I'll see if I can get her into one, but I don't think the local one is open until Monday unless it's an emergency. I'll try though.

Is she eating, pooping, peeing, walking around? or is she hunched up, not eating and not doing much at all?

She has been eating a little, but now shes curled up with Smudge in the bedroom area and not doing very much.I'm very scarewdnow. She was moving around and eating when outside on the grass a coup,e of hours ago...but I'm really scared now.

If your worried I was call your vet for advice and ask them if she needs to come in. You have to think that she could be in pain so it's important to get her sorted out.

"Worried" Is an understatement, I'm thinking full scale panic attack now. She's been eating today, and drinking, and been wondering around a little. I'm checking on them every thirty minutes and I'm just hoping she's going to be okay.

It's ok, I'm just concerned about your guinea pig and I don't think worrying is helping you either, maybe if you gave them a call and see what they had to say it might ease your mind a bit.

I told my parents that I was worried and they just said "Oh for god sake that's everything you say" and "don't get pets" And just won't take it seriously :'( It's not helping.

Just get in touch with the vet yourself, wouldn't speak to your parents about it if they aren't taking you seriously. Your old enough to do it :) I also wouldn't get any more pets while your living with your parent's.

I'm not. If something happens to Cookie, I won't be getting anymore piggies (although going to have to think about Smudge, she isn't even a year old) and the maybe starting up pets again when I move out. I'll miss having them but my parents just don't help me at all.

Are you going to try and give the vets a call and see what they suggest? or maybe the rspca? I don't know what else to suggest but I know you love your guinea pigs enough to not want them to be in pain.

I'll tell you something that I'm hoping might help.

When we adopted a sow last year she came to us bloated, the rescue never took her to get this checked, my son did though and the vet tried to say it was nothing.. anyway as time went on we noticed blood in the cage on and off, we couldn't pin point which is was because we had 4 sows in total but we did split them to try and see if we could find which one was doing it, but nope. Anyway we moved here in February and I noticed Badger was snapping at her sisters but never thought anything of it because she was still eating, then one day I asked my son to get her out because I wanted to hold her for a bit (something was telling me to hold her), he got her out and she was freezing cold, tired, in pain, I asked my son to call the vet and he took her that same day, sadly she had lost 200kg we didn't notice because she was so bloated, her organs had began to shut down, so we opted to have her put to sleep. Please don't let your guinea pig get like this because it will make you feel worse.

Also we had the little piggie pts in my profile picture about 4 weeks ago which was really hard for us, but I didn't want to see him suffer.

I hope you call the vets and get some advice.
