Because its sooo hot here i decided to make my piggies special ice cubes and in the middle of the cube i have put a bit of carrot it should keep them cool hydrated and entertained for a little bit. there not frozen yet but will let you know what they think of it. :)

My bunnies get frozen fruit smoothies during the summer.

You take some fruit, like a few strawberries and then pile some water in to dilute the sugar, freeze it with a string wound into the cup and then when it's ready you just hang it up.

i may sound dum here but i thought pigs couldnt have anything thats beed frozen? i'm probs wrong but hey thats what the site is for to learn these things but its a good idea though what you have done.kelly

guineapigs cant eat may things frozen BUT they do like a lick of a icecube on a hot day that won't do any harm infact it will coll them down

Some people on Guinea Lynx, a reputable information site with a forum attached, will feed their pigs frozen cranberries.

Generally I wouldn't feed frozen veg (warmed up or while still frozen) to my boys. I don't see why they would find it interesting. I checked GL and there is no mention or warning against frozen veg on their diet section: http://www.guinealynx.info/diet.html#vegs but someone else might have better googlefu than I.

oh right thats brilliant well least i can give them a ice cube on very hot days like yesterday i just didnt think you could cheers kelly.

p.s i new this site was going to be very interesting finding all these things out so just want to say a BIG thankyou to everyone for making the site what it is.:):):)

Sort of on the same subject - i asked advise at the shop i got my piggies from - about the heat

i was told a frozen drink bottle is good to put in the cage as the pigs will cuddle up to it to cool down

i was a bit sceptical so tried a chilled can of stella

not icy but cold

place it in a corner and the seem to like it

Just be carful that they don't chew through it :) I use frozen water bottles wrapped in a sock and I brought frozen Ice pods from Pets at home yesterday.

i also use frozen waterbottle and i put it under a thin blanket they like to sit next to it to cool them down. i aso change their drinking water several times a day i aslo have window open and i have a fan that goes on if need be :-)
