Hiya I'm soooo hot i hate it, and bradders is to, i found him lying in his veggies bowl earlier to try and cool down i have all the windows open but i havnt got any fans in the flat as i dont have the money to buy one, can anyone suggest some other ways of cooling him down?
Ive tried putting freezer blocks into his cage wrapped into a tea towel but he seems to be scared of it so I'm not sure what else to try?
Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks rolleyes

Just looked but most of it i already knew lol
he seems to be scared of the water bottle idea and freezer blocks, and unfortunately i dont have enough money to buy a fan so i definitely cant afford an aircon machine? :(

what i did today got a teatowel wet it and stuck in freezer for a min not long and folded it in half put in cage after a while both got on it and lay down on it i have read this before some one esle posted it

moonie posted it so tried it and worked they dont seem interested in ice pod

I did this yesterday and all 4 made a mad dash for it lol!

I have just put some fleece in the freezer, Fleece will ok wont it?
Its still 24 degrees here its 10pm. Got them all out in the runs trying to get some fresh air.

My piggies live outside mostly, but in this heat I have been bringing them all in during the day where its much cooler. In the day I wet old towels and drape them over the top/sides of the guineas cages, which kind of works like air conditioning with any breeze blowing cool thru them (not thats its very breezy, lol!) and the evaporation off the towels helps to keep the temp. down too (thanks pgurney!). When I get home from work I get their runs set up on the lawn outside with more wet towels and then I lightly water the grass before I put them on it, this also works too keep them cool and I can testify is really lovely (I lay out on the damp grass this evening to watch the piggies and feed them dandelions thru the bars!). Over night they go back in their outdoor hutches. They seem very excited about this new and exciting routine, popcorning and snuffling about each time they have a change of location! :))

Thanks guys is it ok to put the wet towels on wood shavings or will it make to much of a mess?

None of mine used to go near ice pods or water bottles in socks but the last two days must just have been too hot for them because they're all on them! I'd definitely leave one in there just to give him the option and he may give in once he realises it's not going to hurt him lol! x

You can drape hand-wrung wet towels at the hutch front or over their indoor cage (whichever you have) on the outside-my hutches have towels at the fronts, all my piggies are laid against them.

My bottles are still freezing or they'd be in their hutches too :)

Just remember to take them out of a night unlike Niki who prefers to go out galavanting and getting smashed on tonic water :)) then they'll be frozen in time for the next morning :) xx
