Hi everyone,

Quick question..does anyone else’s piggies love coriander and parsley as much as mine? 😅 I gave them to my two baby boars today just to try and see if they liked it and it was gone within seconds! Also, they really like curly kale

Coriander is a massive hit with most piggies! Mine love it!
Don’t overdo kale or parsley both contain calcium so should be fed sparingly as treats
I gave them a little bit of the three just so I can see if they liked it and luckily they did

Mine all love both parsley and coriander, they get coriander 2 or 3 times a week and parsley more occasionally, like once every 2 or 3 weeks. Have you tried dill? Dill is another popular herb that can be fed quite often!

No, not yet. Do most supermarkets sell it? They only had coriander/parsley at Aldi

Yes I think so, Asda usually have dill, and when I do my online Ocado shop I usually add some dill and a few more luxury piggy veggies!
I really like Ocado! But I find it so expensive. I feel like with veggies I'm not fussed where they are from as long as the quality is good

Mine were introduced to coriander by @PigglePuggle when they stayed there while we moved.
They love it so I now have to buy it just for them.
They love parsley and dill too.
A pack of dill will disappear in seconds
They loved parsley, coriander, and curly kale! I only gave them a little bit, but it went in seconds. Can I give them coriander and dill daily?

Yes I only do an Ocado shop once a month, mainly because they have such a great range vegan stuff- but I'm always tempted by their fancy veg as an occasional piggy treat, their "earthy beetroot salad" and purple heritage carrots are top picks with the piggies, and sometimes in the "flash sale" items they try sell you at the checkout you can get some fancy veg you might not have thought of buying at full price :)

I mentioned dill on another thread and another member - I think it was @Wiebke - commented that it shouldn’t be fed too often. I can’t remember the exact reason without going back to look.
That’s why I love this forum - there’s always something new to learn to give our piggies the best possible lives

Well its always good to rotate the veg for a bit of variety anyway, mine get a slice of cucumber and a slice of pepper almost every day, but anything else, especially herbs and salad leaves, get rotated throughout the week! And Saturday night is always beansprout night for my piggies when the hoomans have stirfry dinner :)

Yeah I have been trying to add something new each day and getting them familiar with different vegetables. Haven't tried bean sprouts yet🧐

Mine get a lettuce leaf every morning- either romaine or red gem.
If I’m around in the middle of the day or they can explain to daddy slave that they’re starving they get a handful of coriander to share ( or dill once or twice a week).
Then it’s a variety of veggies late afternoon

I usually prepare a cup per piggy in the morning and give them half and the rest in the evening

Coriander is the least calcium rich herb; that is why you can feed a sprig daily. The other herbs are more for an occasional addition/variation to the dinner, but it is good to rotate as they have a different trace elements, minerals and vitamin amounts.

You can feed dill, parsley, basil, mint, fennel, marjoram - all the water loving soft green herbs that are not too rich in essential oils like the meditarrenean herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage etc.), which are not poisonous but they should not be fed on a daily or near daily basis.

Fresh herbs or a little grass usually go down best as the first food in a recovering piggy. ;)

Both my pigs Inhale dill, coriandor, kale

I dare not feed Parsley ever again, not after the bladder stone nightmare I went through with Pip. I'm scared of the stuff.

My rats love kale and coriandor too

Hmm maybe parsley once a moth like other treats. At the moment I have been using romanian lettuce, gem lettuce, cucumber, peppers, coriander and they have had some carrots

Carrots I do 1 ring each twice a week, and Parsley is say you can do more than once a month. I'm actually very tight with the amount of veg I feed, and not vit c defienfies over the 3 years I have had my sow on this.

Sorry about the spelling mistakes, it's my crap phone
