Just checking before I give it to them. Is corn on the cob ok ? I don't have to cook it do it? Lol so but I'm new to this lol x

Yes its ok (in moderation) no you dont have to cook it :) They especially like it with the leaves on :)

Yep, it's fine. As you can imagine, it's quite high in sugars though, so it should be given very occasionally. Mine get one every month or two.

They love the husks (they're coming into season so will soon be in shops with the leaves on!) and can eat these much more often.

I find myself eating corn on the cob all summer so that the pigs can have the outer leaves and stringy bits! :))

When I gave them to mine last summer they wolfed the leaves down but hardly touched the sweetcorn :)). They do enjoy it though as a treat.

Don't forget that if its a new food they should only get small amounts so it doesn't cause stomach upsets x

I'm going to try mine on this soon. They are picky eaters and have already turned their noses up at broccoli, tomatoes, and peppers! but love lettuce, parsley and the occasional carrot.

Hello, mine have always enjoyed corn on the cob, including the inner bit which they like to gnaw on, but last week I didn't cut the pieces as small as usual and Burt got his teeth stuck in the hard middle bit :( I got it off him very quickly but felt awful so will cut it up small for them from now on. I suppose it could happen with lots of things but better safe than sorry.

Of course it's "ok" in moderation. It is high in sugar though.

Just ask yourself though - would a wild cavy or an ancestor to the guinea pig ever come across corn on the cob?

Mine go nuts over it when they get it as a treat. I think they can smell it when I bring it up the stairs and start wheeking the house down before I can put it in for them to dive onto.

Hmmm, what's this?
