I recently bought some frozen corn on the cob for myself. If I were to cook it via boiling or microwave, would that be safe to give to my piggies?
piggies' guts are very different from our own as they have evolved to eat a very different diet. Veggies that have been frozen/cooked have been structurally altered and can cause bloat in piggies. It is it worth the risk.I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s unsafe but it’s not exactly recommended. Sure, as humans, fresh is always healthier, but we don’t always feel like getting fresh and frozen food won’t really harm us given it’s just from time to time.
This isn’t to say not to buy fresh—piggies absolutely need fresh veggies in their diet (I can’t imagine frozen leafy greens are a thing)—but I don’t really see frozen as a set in stone no provided it doesn’t make up a majority of the fresh intake.
So, in a scenario like this, I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to throw a bit in with their veggies to spice things up a bit.
This is likely a little late but just wanted to throw in my two cents. Feel free to disagree.
