I eventually found some veg elsewhere,went home,fed my lovelies and braced myself for tomorrows hunt! I can only buy for one day at a time as I have a few piggies and bunnies and I get "evils" and "tuts" if I get too much in one go.

Its getting harder to find what we need for ourselves and our piggies.
Rant over! Just needed to vent but I know we are all in the same boat.:eek:

Do you have Amazon Prime? There are hay sold there (might be a bit expensive for your liking) and it can be a next day delivery for Prime members. If you are running out of option, it is a good one. The Oxbow hay are sold at regular price still and some are still decent price.

Frozen veg is not recommended for piggies.
Can you cut yours grass @piggles 7000 mine are delighted to be getting more grass and dandelions to make up the veg shortage! There is a thread somewhere about feeding during the crisis but I can't find it at the moment, I will go away and have another look!

The few tins I had are dwindling and the freezer is starting to empty. When did this Country become so selfish that a few people can strip shop shelves bare and leave nothing for others. We are going to make do this weekend and hope the situation improves next week. People who feel ill are not going to self isolate with no online food shopping to be had, I bet the people who have booked all the slots available are the same ones who have spare rooms full of stockpiled food.

Aw, I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time of it! Wish I could help, but I'm way too far away :(
I went to do my weekly shop this afternoon and found that the vultures had descended on my usual tesco extra; no bread, milk, spuds, pasta, rice, low on juices, soup, water... salad veg was ok, fortunately for my piggies! They were rationing, only 3 of any type of item, but the cashier said people still try to get round that by coming in again, or coming in as a family and splitting into 2 or more trolley loads and paying at different tills. Selfish b****ers, hope they get what's coming to them.
I was lucky, I had dropped my OH at the dentist near our old house, so I texted him and got him to get some milk and bread at the big sainsbury opposite, where they still had some.
Surely people will stop panic buying soon ...

People here in UK are preparing for us to get very very bad like Italy, I don't think panic buying is going to stop anytime soon 😔
 
Pretty unfortunate what is happening in Italy. Such a beautiful, historic place. Hope they hit a plateau soon. Americans have been saying to look for a plateau because plateau means COVID19 will be going away soon. I guess that is what happened in China, there was a plateau then COVID19 cases slowed down.

Just a thought, @piggieminder , have you any local hotels, restaurants etc? As they had to close so suddenly lasy night, they must have some stocks of food- maybe they would be willing to sell some (if you can get hold of someone).
 
Piggy daddy had to queue for an hour in Asda this morning but he made it home with a week's worth of fresh veggies for us and the piggies (3 peppers, 3 cucumbers, beansprouts, mangetout, coriander, bag of babyleaf salad, 2 little gem lettuces, carrots, and potatoes and onions for the hoomans) plus my old Mum's shopping bits and some tinned things his elderly Uncle's local supermarket didnt have in stock... but Asda are limiting wine sales to 2 bottles per customer!

Glad you got food! I don't drink but i can now imagine friends will be ' can you get me 2 bottles of wine..... :whistle:
 
Vets now emergencies only, no spay for Effie, completely understand, it's better they are still able to treat emergencies and dispense medicine than been closed altogether 💖 callies gone to groomers for her groom but only because she desperately needs it 😂
 
Our ALDI looks pretty much back to normal today with most items in stock (although reduced supply of most). However the exception remains the usual culprits : flour, loo roll, anti bac, pasta, paracetamol. No green beans (had none for over a week) but most other things available. Trolleys looked more normal (like a usual Saturday shopping session) and milk is rationed to one 2 pint carton per shopper. I’m guessing that’s because since some clever company announced you could freeze milk everyone hoarded that, too! I am hoping the hysterical panic shopping is calming down.
 
Only went local shop for bread & paper this morning. We just spent 2 hours painting new front fence, did a fence each so opposite sides of garden. Mum had a bit of social interaction with 3 neighbours (one from next door, 2 over road) so thats our fresh air for the day. I'm freezing now though, concrete is so cold to sit on!

Have a question, the answer may be obvious I don't know. I understand the social distancing/ isolating for 12 weeks or however long it may be to delay /prevent spread. After that, will the virus have died off? Or will it not just come back when every one is mixing with each other again?
 
The pub I clean at is obviously now closed so my services are no longer needed until further notice so that’s no pocket money for me. As I only work three hours a week, it’s not worth the stress of going through the government to get an 80% wage
 
Times have changed so quickly it's only just over a week since we had so much on date fruit and veg in our local shop it was reduced and I bought cucumbers for 9p each! People here don't normally buy much fresh veg, I don't think many know how to prepare or cook it. I was told once by a lady that she never bought potatoes because they were dirty and she didn't know how to peel them. I can just imagine her face if I'd offered her a bucket full just dug from the garden.
The boys are quite happy with their grass and dandelions. One of my neighbours gave me a little gem lettuce yesterday, he tried the other one in the packet as he couldn't get his usual iceberg and didn't like it. The piggies favourite so they have a treat tonight.
The humans are not desperate yet, thank goodness I routinely stock up on tins for the winter in case of bad weather, I hate icy pavements. We are about to go into strange combination meals but we won't starve yet.
Fingers crossed people stop being so silly with stockpiling soon.
 
Went out today for a take away Chinese chippy and to get milk and bread. We've seen some people carrying one bag of toilet rolls. I went to our small Co-op in Denbigh town and saw only around 5 people there. I looked at their shelves and it's almost full. So I managed to get one milk, a pack of bread, and I got the last 2 packs of spaghetti! :yahoo: Quite happy actually. Looks like there's really not much panic buying where we are (either that or people have already done stocking up and getting back to normal). We have Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl, Home Bargains, and Co-op in such a small town. Not bad.
