Corriander everyday ok?

I think i noticed sludge in this mornings muck out. But it may have been pee ridden newspaper gone soggy. I'm not sure.
 
I believe coriander can be safely fed every day. It's a favourite with my piggies.

Try not to worry too much, mine sometimes have a sludgy mark quite noticeable on fleece, but they seem fine 🤔
 
I give it a few times a week, kind of had it in my head the same as celery, a few days but not too many because of calcium.
May be completely wrong, I'm always worrying about my bladder piggy Rupert so try and be as safe as possible!

Or boring as Poopy Bear may call me!
 
Mine get coriander every day unless it's run out and I haven't been to the shop again. Usually about 3 sprigs a day, it's the first thing they go for

Yes, one to two sprigs are OK on a daily basis. you will find that they are part of our sample diet recommendation.

There is of course never any accounting for pigsonal likes and dislikes. ;)

Please be aware that most calcium comes with the drinking water and that in some UK areas not even filtering can fully prevent the build up of sludge or crystals in piggies with a genetic disposition for stones. In those cases it is recommended to switch to low calcium bottled water.

PS: There is no chart that tells you what kind of area you live in; you have to work it out through your own experiences with your guinea pigs. The sample diet generally helps to minimise the risk but we cannot finesse it for the full variance of locations around the UK, never mind around the world. ;)
 
Yes my pigs have had bottled water since recommended on here after Rupert's stone. Have very hard water where I am and know from testing water for my fish tanks too!

I've always gone by the guide but try to stay safe with my 6 year old boy that's had bladder probs! Jessie my 5yr old sow gets extra snuck in though of course! :)
 
Dots has been fine with filtered water since ive had her. Almost 3 years. I think the sludge wasnt sludge is was very wet newspaper in the toilet corner, which she chooses to make next to bernies hidey and keep hers clean🤣

I've tried buying a live one, probably due to my lack of gardening skills I found it kept longer if I just buy it in a bag, I did read it's a deep rooted plant though so potentially would need to be planted in a larger pot than the one it comes in
 
My piggies used to have coriander most days until we found it was a bit of a trigger food for bloaty Puggle. Now if its a coriander day we have to lure Puggle away with something else while everypig else gets their coriander fix!

Sadly I’ve never managed to keep one of those herb pots of coriander alive. I suspect they over force it or something as it seems never to grow more after I cut it. I’ve tried just cutting a. It of it and then resting it, it it always dies on me.
 
I had better luck with growing coriander from seed than keeping a shop bought live pot going... but it still all came at once then flowered and went feathery then withered and died within a fortnight!

I'm pleased I'm not the only one who's a failed coriander farmer 🤣
 
My Finn and Lara do get coriander/cilantro almost everyday. But they do get sick of it so I replace with parsley and basil instead. They turn their nose to coriander/cilantro so I know it is time to introduce variety.
I always think variety and I feel they will be ok with their diet. Too much of a good thing is never good even for me. :tu:
