Has anyone else noticed the price of this lately? £6 in P@H!

I got a bag from jolleys last night for £4.19 on offer, but i think i am going to have to find an alternative food, a 2kg bag only lasts we about 3 weeks, a huge sack of wagg crunch is about £9.

I might contact Burgess and see what they say.

doesnt really help but i order my food online from chemist direct they sell the B&O for £4.09 a bag obviously you need to factor in delivery costs to, but i buy 20kg at a time (not that one) x

I noticed this too! I don't want to change brands but I'm looking at £12 a month on pellets now.

I know, i dont want to change either, but cant justify this much money on dry food which is the least important part of their diet, i am quite lucky that mine will eat most types of dry food, but i always chose this as its one of the best and they love it, but when wagg crunch is only a couple of pounds more for 6x the weight, it puts it into context. And with other animals mouths to feed (as well as the OH) i am going to have to reconsider.

if it helps i vary mine. i currently have a 10kg bag of harrington optimum and a 2kg bag of B&O on the go.
i also have waiting to be used the same again and a 10kg bag of normal excel.

then they cant be fussy but they get a variety :)

Mine wont eat the normal excel, which is a shame as its cheaper and they do bigger bags which work out to be cheaper. I am thinking of giving them a mixture containing the B&O still... but they will probably just pick them out and leave everything else.

Mine always run on a mix, they have Gerty, Harrington and exel mixed and seem to eat it all

I'd noticed the price hike a few weeks ago. It went up from 5.39 to 5.50 and then the next day 6.00!

I have had a look online and found it much cheaper. If I stayed buying at P@H I would spend £30+ on nuggets @)

It's hard to find a different food that they will all eat :( Fussy !

I have just been in P@H and the burgess excel orange packet 2kg wth mint has jumped from £4.30 to £5.30 in a month. I was really shocked as my 2 piggys get through a bag a month so that was a huge increase over a month period. When I went to get my chickens feed I bought a 2kg bag of muesli guinea pig food for £1.45 with grass and vitamin C just to bulk out the burgess excel a bit and I'm hoping this will make it last another 2 weeks longer as the price s fairly steep. We buy the P@H hay for sleeping which was 2 for £10 for large hay and then we buy the alfafa king timothy hay which is £8.00 for 1.8kg.

I think its a good idea to contact burgess and find out why their prices have just shot up?

I will send them an email tomorrow, it was only the other week i emailed them to ask if they would consider doing larger packs (like they do with the ordinary) as they usually work out cheaper and i buy alot of it, she just said she would pass the comments on!

This is their response:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Throughout 2012, our business, like the majority of pet and human food manufacturers, has seen significant raw material price rises. Such rises for example have been incurred on, but not limited to meat and grains, which form a large proportion of our recipes. These raw material price rises have been widely reported and their causes are well documented, with factors such as bad weather conditions and poor global harvests being responsible for much of the situation. Consumers have seen these impacts directly on a range of grocery products such as meats, breads and a range of other staple foods, as well as large price rises on fuel. Our price rises are as a direct result of these raw material price increases, and in fact we have absorbed a significant amount of the cost of raw material inflation ourselves during the year.

Kind Regards, Consumer Care

I always suggest the same thing when posts like this come up...see how much your vet can get it in for! They will also be able to get hold of 4kg and 10kg sacks, which would work out cheaper in the long run if stored correctly. They should be able to get it in on next day delivery too

Vets will be able to get hold of 4kg and 10kg in the blackcurrent and oregano?

Well i dont think it is, i have never seen it in shops and contacted them a while back asking if they did larger sizes and was told no.

I had the girls on Harringtons and Bertie on Burgess. Harringtons used to be a lot cheaper but it isnt now. I got the girls some harringtons muesli stuff waste of money they pick out the bits they like and leave the rest. Luckily Bertie isnt keen on the B and O, so i will just have to give them both Burgess ordinary. Did Burgess send you any money off vouchers? they usually do if you moan!

miserable lot...will have to have a word with all piggies, that they need to stop throwing any round the cage, and eat every single morselrolleyes

oh ours do, hats the reason i buy it, its the only thing they will eat every scrap of!
