Hi guys when I got up this morning and came down stairs I was sat watching tv and all of a sudden I heard Desmond cough, so I went over and he was eating his hay so I didn't think much of it so I went to sit down. About 10 mins later he did it again so I went over picked him up as he was still eating hay but there was nothing in his mouth so I put him back to continue eating and sure enough he did it again. It's 10:14now and he hasn't done it for about 10 mins I just want to know if its something to be worried about or will it have been a bit of hay/ dust in his throat

Well I'm not really sure about this but it could be a sign of URI (upper Respiritory Infection) As I said I'm not really sure so @helen105281 might know :) Take him to the vets asap because it could be very serious

Okay thanks he still hasn't done it since I wrote the thread and his breathing is fine and his nose is clear too

It may just have been something that was stuck in throat or had gone down the wrong way from eating too quickly.

If the coughing persists and is regular, then I would recommend to see a vet.

Ok so does he hvae crusty eyes, loss of appetite or irregular breathing? To check his breathing just hold his nose up to your ear... But if it still happens see a vet..

Sounds to me like they were eating too quickly too, but if she continues to do it and it is quite frequent it would be a good idea to get him checked as random coughing is one of the symptoms of a heart issue.
