My wee jasmine isn't eating very well and Iv noticed she hasn't been eating much, I thinking of taking her to the vets. Has anyone else's piggies done this? I'm worried :(

Please have her checked for respiratory infection. Loss of appetite is a common symptom as the need to breathe comes before the need to drink and lastly, the need to eat.

If the vet finds that there is fluid in the lungs, please ask for a diuretic to help drain them and if there is a lot of mucus, ask for a bisolvon powder to help with that in order to ease the breathing.

You can also place a bowl of hot water with olbas oil next to the cage to make breathing easier once she has been diagnosed. Up her vitamin C intake and if she is having an antibiotic prescribed, please give her a pinch of probiotic an hour or two after the anitibiotic to help steady her guts. Weigh her daily at the same time and top her up with hand feed if necessary. You can find tips on where to source vitamin C and probiotics in the hand feeding thread.

Iv got the vets tomorrow for her. I'm just so worried :(

Good that you have got a vet appointment. With a proper diagnosis and the right treatment she should come right again pretty straight forward! The tips I have given you are there to help make her treatment as efficient and effective as possible for a quick recovery. ;)

Thanks so much. I'm so worried I don't want to put her down Iv been trying to feed her n get her to drink by hand :(

There is no reason whatsoever to put her to sleep!

Keep her as normal and comfy as possible and see a vet as an emergency if she takes a sudden turn for the worse, which I hope won't happen.

If she carries on not eating throughout the day and you are struggling to get anything into her I would see if you can get her seen as an emergency before tomorrow.

She seems comfy in her bed so il leave her for abit but if she gets worse il take her for a emergency. Thanks so much guys

Guys she's been sleeping all day barely touched food. Do yous think I should just let her sleep?

And please hand feed and syringe water, anything that you can get into her to keep the guts going!

Right now, you are aiming to keep her going until she's been seen and her meds are kicking in. That usually takes a day or two. ;)

Not long out the vets, she's got a wee infection, she was given baytril liquid and also critical care food to try n help her eat from a syringe.

Yeah Iv got that too :) her nose is clear so Iv to give her a few days on the antibiotics if she doesn't pick up Iv to take her back.

Good. Sorry just to clarify, is it a respiratory infection? You mentioned her nose, but said it is a wee infection?

Sorry, end of the day, am half asleep, you mean a small infection don't you?

Lol that's fine yeah it's just a infection :) her nose is clear so she doesn't think it's respiratory infection

Dont give up! Sending healing vibes! [emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji2]
