Hello! I've noticed that my piggie, Winston, has been coughing. I've noticed that he does this if I pick him up in an awkward way or just seemingly randomly. While it is adorable, he also does it after he grooms or after some playtime. I've done tons of research and that is the only symptom of an URI he has. He is almost one full year old, I think, but he does not have any issue eating, drinking, playing, breathing, or anything. His eyes are in good condition and so is his nose. I have listened to his breathing and it is as clear as can be. I'm just wondering if this is normal? There does not seem to be any signs of sneezing or low energy, either. The coughing is not overly excessive, if excessive at all. Sometimes, I feel like he does it to get attention if I am in the other room. Is there anything I should be doing to help him?

Guinea pigs won’t cough to get attention, they do not have the thought processes to do so.

He is probably getting a little snuffly after cleaning himself. Or as you say when you pick him up in an odd way so try not to do that.

If it is sporadic I would think there is nothing to worry about, if it was continued coughing I would suggest seeing a vet
