molly, who is at least 4 i think (she was a rescue and was fully grown when i had her 3 years ago), seems to have a mark in the centre of her one eye - i think maybe a cataract. the other eye seems to be going cloudy (white) from the outer edge. it is not quite as cloudy as it gets into the middle. i noticed this afternoon that as the sun got brighter she seemed to screw her eyes up as if to stop the light bothering her. is this normal in 'older' guinea pigs as i personally have never seen it any of my others over the years. i may have just been lucky though

I think the best thing to do is to take her to the vets to determine the problem.

i shall do but that will be on monday before i can see anyone. i do have a great vet who i can trust with any of my animals - and i have quite a lot lol

Tbh, I wouldn't worry too much as long as she doesn't appear to be in pain.
It may be an injury which could need treatment so it would be on the safe side to pop her to your vet.
Piggies can lead perfectly normal lives with limited sight.
One of my girls had a cloudy eye when we first rescued her but the vet said it was an old injury that was healing itself - I thought it was a cataract and had her checked for peace of mind.
Hugs to little one x>>

she doesn't seem in pain and she's eating and drinking - i was wondering more than anything if it does turn out that she is going blind, do they manage very easily which you have answered really. thanks for that.

If she is, she will manage well as long as her pen isn't changed/accessories not moved etc. Bowls/dishes etc. need to be in the same place daily - piggies have an amazing sense of smell and get by really well.
This may be useful to you and hope Molly is ok :)
