I'm racking my brains trying to think what could have caused this potential fungal infection in my piggies (due at the vets at 6.30 tonight).
If it is fungal eye/ear could this have been caused by slightly mouldy wood? I'm kicking myself now but when we got their new hutch there was tiny white patches in places of what looked like mould. Think of white patches you get on fruit/bread/cakes etc when it's just going off. I remember pointing it out to my dad who said it would be fine, so we sprayed it with some pet safe disinfectant and it just wiped off. I didn't even really think about it as it was literally nothing and nothing that warranted us returning said hutch. A few days later baby pig was born, so I'm worried that her immunity could have been low due to her age, hence why she caught it and now she has managed to pass it onto Maisie pig?
I don't really know anything about fungal infections so could be barking up the wrong tree. I've had a look around and although there's coverage on fungal infections it's all a bit patchy, varying opinions on the severity of the illness, how to treat it and also what causes it.
Ultimately I don't want to be labled with the stigma as a bad piggy mum, so I want to know what has caused this and prevent it from ever happening again!
