If they are introduced properly than they will be fine. You will have more chance with girls but boys can work too, however you would need a large hutch/cage as they would be fully grown and would need space to get away from each other when they want some quiet time
Two females it should be fine. A new GP should be kept in quarantine for 2 weeks before being put together with an existing one - this gives you time
to make sure the new one doesn't have any illnesses which can be passed on.
Do it on neutral territory - one that neither pig has been before, and give the hutch a good clean out before they both go in together.
As Sophie has said and also others on your other thread the hutch needs to be AT LEAST 4 ' x 2' and bigger if you can.
Make sure they are both females before putting them together http://www.cavyspirit.com/sexing.htm
As yours is older it could be very dangerous for her if she got pregnant & she could die.
Is this a hypothetical question? I would be a bit disappointed if you were still going to be getting another guinea pig when you were given such sound advice regarding your hutch size on another thread.
We've seen the hutch... we've said you need a bigger one for two guinea pigs.
From the photo it barely looks much bigger than two foot long to me, although as we cannot see the whole hutch in the photo it's hard to say. I would say definitely not big enough for two.
I spoke to you on your other thread remember? I suggested you save up for a bigger hutch before considering getting a friend for your current guinea pig as the one you have is just too small. I really hope you'll take everyone's advice on board.
Very easy to say "Sorry" on a forum, actually listening, taking in and doing what has been advised to you is a lot more difficult.
I really hope people aren't wasting their time advising you.
We are all giving you advice as we all have your guinea pigs best interests at heart. For the welfare of your guinea pigs you shouldnt house two pigs in that hutch so definately save up for a bigger hutch and then think about adding another piggy
I agree. I've already explained to you that that hutch is FAR too small! Even for a single guinea pig. You even mentioned about just getting a second pig and 'maybe' see about getting a hutch later.
Take our advice - Get a bigger hutch or don't even think about getting another guinea pig but for the welfare and general happiness of your current pig I'd advise you to seriously consider getting bigger accommodation for your pig and then you can get her a friend.
Scroll down and look at the picture on the very first page.
I think that hutch size may be similar to yours. Look at how cramped those two guinea pigs are and how little space they have. I hope it gives you a better idea of what a disservice you would be doing to two small animals by housing them in a hutch that doesn't meet their needs.
I agree here that the hutch is too small. You must save up for a bigger hutch if you truly care about your piggy's comfort and welfare. Have a look at this thread and maybe it will give you some ideas on a suitable hutch. http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=53209
