Courgette, Wagg and Pellets

Can my piggies have courgette?

And also just reading another thread, I didn't think to ask the petshop what dried food they were feeding Bob before we bought him...I've been giving him Wagg as that's what John Anderson gets...he's eating some of it, will this be ok?

And what are pellets...how many a day and what brand is best? Do you need them with dried food and veggies?
 
Pellets are a complete food fed instead of mix. They prevent selective feeding - often with mixes pigs will just pick out the bits they like and leave the bits that are nutritious (a bit like giving a human child a plate of cabbage and chips - which would they choose?).

I use Oxbow Cavy Cuisine (pellets) which is stupidly expensive but it's superb - healthy and the piggies love it.
 
if you use a museli type dried food, piggies will usually only eat the bits he likes best, nuggets are a complete food so they get all the nutrients they need from it, mine have pets at home nuggets, supa guinea excel is supposed to be good but mine didn'tr like it. I still give a handful of museli once or twice a week as a treat.
 
Mine have the Supa Guinea Excel pellets, but like maisydaisystar, I give a handful of muesli in with the pellets for a treat!

Can't help you about the courgette, as I've not ever thought of trying mine with it?
 
sorry forgot to say courgette is fine to give them, but mine didn't like it.

hmmmm my John Anderson is a selective feeder..I've noticed he leaves the little black square thingies in his bowl of food.

With the pellets, how much do you give? Same as the dried mix stuff?
And should I do a half and half mix with the Wagg until they get used to it?

I'll be near a petshop tomorrow so will have a look. (LOL I@m spending lots of money in petshops these days!)

Tried courgette, he had a sniff, a nibble and left it...obviously doesn't like it.
 
oh and should I get different pellets for Bob because he's only 8 weeks old?
 
no they can have the same nuggets, yes do half and half and gradually increase the nuggets.
