Hi all,

Iv noticed Craig doesn't seem himself today. He has been lay in same position for most of the day which isn't unusual as he is a lazy boy but I went in before and he stood up I couldn't tell if he was having a wee or poo but he looked to be straining himself, like hunched up in a funny position.

I'm just at work at the moment so will keep my eye on him when I get in, I'm just hoping its not a stone or anything. I haven't heard him squeak though when he is weeing. As you can imagine I am paranoid after only losing david 2 weeks ago x x

Any thoughts?

Hi, am sorry to hear your loss. Perhaps bloated? I would try some massaging to see if that does anything and if he's in any discomfort, but absolutely a vet visit is required asap when any hunching is involved.

When a piggy is hunched up it is usually a sign of pain. Have you noticed any spots of blood in the cage, or signs of pink wee that may indicate a UTI? You say that he hasn't been himself - you know him best. I would definitely take him for a vet check.

Best have him checked by a vet, if necessary with an x-ray to show any signs of gas or sludge or stones.

Pain is also an appetite killer; please weigh him daily at the same time in the feeding cycle and if necessary, start topping him up with hand feed and water promptly. https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/complete-hand-feeding-guide.115359/

I am very sorry; so shortly after losing a piggy, your nerves are still feeing raw.
