Hi all, the little one seems to be experiencing a bit of IC and unfortunately I can't find any unsweetened or sugar free cranberry juice. I have managed to get some cranberry tablets. Any ideas on how much to give and how often? Thanks guys

Sorry, no experience with cranberry tablets. It would be helpful if you please posted the particulars like concentration and amounts in your tablets.

PS: In my own experience, cranberries have not made any difference for my own IC piggies.

Hi, the cranberry concentrate is 85mg per tablet, I have some cystease coming tomorrow, just trying to make him a little more comfortable.

Try offering as much water as he will willing take in one session to encourage one or two large pees or offer some dog/fox pee free dandelion in the first day or two; it is mildly diuretic and will contribute to help flush out the bladder as much as possible.

Thanks for that, would you recommend cystease? I have him on the IC diet now and he does seem to be improving.

Cystease is great and I'd definitely recommend it.

I remember chatting to my vet about Cranberry juice. She said that it was virtually useless in altering urine ph enough. The only positive is that if the pig likes it then it will drink more water if you mix the two.

I didn't bother with cranberry juice for my bladder stone boar. He was on Cystease (Cystassist which is virtually the same).

Thank you for your reply, looks like we'll have to await the cystease tomorrow.
