Hi I’m looking for some advice to try to tame my Bree’s crazy hair. I’ve very gently brushed it but she becomes a fuzz ball. And I look at other peoples guinea pigs and the long hair is long, smooth and silky mine is a little ratbag. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. 😊C901927F-962F-4B36-B4C5-5F6E5FD14CB5.webp

My long haired boy certainly isn’t smooth and silky! As long as the hair isn’t matted, then it’s just her natural hair do! I think she looks gorgeous!
Here is a pic of my Dexter on a reasonably good hair day!

The trick is regular judicious haircuts! Keep the bum end around the genitals and legs as short as possible. Also make sure that the sides are off the floor. In hot weather pleas give any long-haired piggies a short haircut so they are not suffering wearing the equivalent of a skisuit on a tropical beach.

Your little one is just at the stage where the hair is at its wildest. As it is growing out further, gravity will win out and the hair will soon fall to the sides more smoothly. Enjoy the wild hair period while you can - it is the cutest stage!

Aw Bree is wonderful! All my long haired guinea pigs get regular hair cuts (which they are most unimpressed about).
