I was cuddling Coco and noticed some little creamy/white things on her, they were thin and not very long :( I tried to get hold of one but it went under her hair so I couldn't get it.

Would these be lice?

Yep - that sound like lice. I use Johnsons insecticidal shampoo for small animals and it deals with them very effectively, I usually give a bath a week for 3-4 weeks to make sure they're dealt with. If you treat with Ivermectin on a regular basis they won't become a problem - I treat all my lot once every three months - it covers mites as well. I'm all itchy now just thinking about them! Yuck.

Suzy x

Thanks Suzy. I'll try and get some tomorrow, our pet shop is closed today :(

I'd guess Amber has them too but she's white & ginger so they probably don't show up on her as much as Coco.

Coco is 13 wheeks old will that shampoo be safe for her?

I agree that it sounds like lice, they're the bugs you can see! I've not used the Johnson's shampoo for lice, I've had success with Fleaordie and Lice 'n' Easy for parasitic problems though.

Make sure you bath the guineas once a week for 3 weeks, to be absolutely sure they're all gone. I also use a conditioner (used to use Gorgeous Guineas) to help prevent the lice clinging on and a nit comb to help get rid of more.

I've actually just ordered some Lice & Easy hopefully it will turn up tomorrow. I haven't got any cash til Friday :( So at least I could put it on my CC on paypal lol

I had some GG Lavendar, Lemon & Tea Tree shampoo so I used that last night thinking the tea tree might help but I don't think it did much. I had Coco on a white towel after and spotted one on the towel it looked like this
