Hi everyone! So my guinea pig is on critical care and I cant find ANYWHERE if he can still eat hay and veggies and pellets while he's on it. So... Can he? Thanks so much!

Please keep feeding him his hay and pellets. Guinea pigs should have access to hay 24 hours a day.

He can eat veggies too unless he is having soft poos /diarrhea.

Critical care should be used as a top up and to keep the guts moving. It shouldn't replace food altogether unless guinea pigs stop eating altogether and they have to be force fed.

If you don't mind me asking, why is he having critical care?

Alright thank you SO much! For some reason I couldn't find that information anywhere... But he's having critical care because he was sick a while back and that's when it was prescribed to him, but he never gained all his weight back and I've been noticing it going down again which is weird because he always has hay I don't let him not have any... So yeah I started to give it to him again tonight...

Some piggies never regain the weight they have lost during an illness especially as they get older.

It is wise to routinely weigh your piggy weekly but do it daily if you are concerned.

If he is losing a substantial amount of weight, I would have him checked by a vet as weight loss is usually one of the most common signs of illness.

Fluctuations of up to 20 - 30g in one day can be the difference between and empty / full bladder / tummy but anymore and I would be seeing a vet.

All the best
