Hi. I have a poorly pig. To help him I am syringe feeding him.

I was using ordinary burgess nuggets and fibre plex. He hated the fibre plex.

So I've bought some Critical Care and Supreme Science Recovery. In the past my piggies have liked critical care.

Can these both be fed or should I only feed one?

Thanks for your help.

These products are both effectively the same idea although the ingredients may differ very slightly. I would stick to one brand but it doesn't really matter. I find my piggies won't touch Criticak Care but they are odd in that respect, most piggies like it. I use Supreme Science Recovery because they prefer it.

Either is fine as long as you get enough into him. Have you checked out the syringe feeding guide for tips?

Thank you. Yes I've read the guide thank you. He is eating hay but has lost quite a bit of weight during treatment. So its to just help him along a bit.

See which one he likes best as it is much easier to syringe feed a piggy if he likes what's in the syringe. Strange about the Fibreplex, I've yet to meet a piggy who who doesn't like it :) x

Haha he hates it. One of my other piggies was licking it off his chin she liked it so much! He really hates it!

If you are syringe feeding a piggy for a while, it's good to get a variety of foods, to keep them interested. It is rare to find a pig who will like CC or recovery foods. Their usual nuggets usually work best, but Excel Blackcurrant and Oregano often go down a treat. Have currently got five different kinds of foods on the go for a dental piggy and he flits between them all. :)

i'd stick with one until they start to lose a little interest (which can happen with poorly piggies), and then switch to something else. although i think critical care is amazing stuff and i've found it to make the most difference to poorly piggies :)

I've also ended up mixing the powder with Ella's Kitchen baby food pouches to make it more interesting. They do plain, single fruit/veg ones like carrot or mixed ones like broccoli, pears and peas. They just add a bit extra interest if they start getting fussy about the food :)

Thank you that's really interesting.

I've used critical care, it was hard to syringe feed. Never heard of Supreme Science Recovery. See what your piggie likes better or what is easier.
