When you make up critical care, do you keep what you didn't use til the next feed and if so how do you store it? I am guessing the fridge would be too cold...

Thanks,

Yes, l keep it for up to 24hours in the fridge. I either get it out 30 minutes before the feed or mix a bit of warm water in or heat for a few seconds on a low heat in the microwave. I would make a fresh batch daily though in case it gets contaminated or the nutrients degrade.

Actually - how much do you give of critical care in one sitting?

The intake varies between 3-5 ml every 2 hours round the clock in very ill piggies to up to 15-20 ml 3-4 times a day to up to 30 ml in famished/dental piggies. It also depends on whether a piggy only needs a top up or is fully on syringe feed.

I prefer to make up just a little twice daily with boiled, but still warm water and usually mix it with their regular mushed up pellets, as with the very ill a hand warm and familiar tasting mush is going in best in my experience - and at that stage it is usually a matter of getting as much into a piggy as it will take any way you can.
