I've noticed my guinea pig has been making a noise that sounds like a cross between a frogs croak and a human stomach growl (and maybe a small gag?). I've only noticed it the last night or two, he only does it at night and seems fine in the mornings/day time. This is not to say it hasn't happened other nights or that it doesn't happen during the day, it just hasn't to my knowledge. Does anyone know what this noise is? Or what it means?

Hi
Unfortunately, the perception and description of sounds is very personal and extremely varied. We cannot comment on your post without any independent access to your piggy because all we can do at this stage is speculate idly but it is like throwing darts in the general direction of a board we cannot see - and that won't help you at all since the chance of hitting a bullseye is small and more likely accidental. Remote access has some serious drawbacks, and lack of independently verifiable information is one of the most obvious ones. :(

If it is not just a one off and happens regularly, then please take a video or audio and also either mail it to the vets or take it with you for an appointment so they have a better idea what to look or check for. It would also help if you looked for context - does it happen when your piggy is sleeping or after they have drunk from a water bottle?
