Biscuit and Crumble live indoors but for lawn time we put them in a hutch with run underneath it combo. It is really difficult to get them out of it though when it's time to come in so we have to open the door of the under run and let them walk out then pick them up.

Last night we did this, using panels from one of those metal movable runs to block off an area in front of the hutch and up to our other girls' run.

Crumble came out and shot off squeezing down the side of the panel and was running free on the lawn. She then went and hid in the flower bed. We could hear her moving around but couldn't quite locate her.

After a worrying couple of minutes, our eldest son calmly stepped in, bent down and scooped her up like there was nothing to it!

So all ended well but was a scary few minutes.

Hehe, they are little devils aren't they? My boss has guineas and hers graze in an orchard, once the run got put on some uneven ground and one of hers escaped, fortunately the orchard has dry stone wall round it, and the piggy was white so she managed to find it and catch it! My boss and her other half spent an hour trying to corner this piggy, who normally is very friendly, but had a taste of freedom!

Oh no!
What a shock for you, luckily she was retrieved. It wasn't a c&c grid she escaped from?
No it was one of those that are 8 metal panels which you can make into a hexagonal shape. She didn't squeeze through the bars though - she squeezed through the end where we had overlapped it with the edge of the wooden run.

I feel for you. This happened to me with Bess a few months ago.
I was putting them back after lawn time and she somehow managed to make a bid for freedom. I will never forget seeing her rear end disappearing into the hedge. Fortunately, I managed to summon some inner strength from somewhere and got my hands round her waist before she disappeared completely.
Words cannot describe how I felt . I was besides myself and it took me a good 2 hours to calm down.
Fortunately, our 2 stories have a happy ending but I am so concious of the posters you see pinned up on telegraph poles about missing pets.
Well done to your son for catching her.

I lost my second guinea pig when I was about 10, we had got them that day, and a triangle type arc, with only one door. My dad tried to catch her through the door with no luck, so he decided to lift it up by a corner. Never saw Badger again. :(

Oh no! You must all have felt terrible but your poor dad too!

I know what you mean about inner strength - there was no way I would have given up the chase!

Scary times, trick is not to panic as it makes everything worse! Glad everything turned out alright :)
