We think Crumbs is anorexic, so he won't eat, but hes not moving?

He won't even get up to drink so I have to syringe feed him water :'(
How often should I give him water? Because even if hes really thursty he doesn't move so I can't tell if he needs water xx0

Hes not interested in anything.

I'm so sorry.
A vit B12 injection helped Dr 0:) somewhat in a similar situation.

0:)

Thanks Lucinda.

Hes so ill its almost unbearable. He doesn't move, he doesn't eat or drink, he has trouble passing all his poops and he wees all over himself.

Hes has had a bath two days in a row.

I think if i were you I would start syringe feeding him to make sure he gets some food, you know his stomach will shut down if he doesn't eat, and you have to kick start it for him.
If you haven't got any critical care, you can soak pellets (not museli) into a runny paste and syringe feed him that, several times a day, should get him kick started into eating himself. Keep up syringing his water too.
good luck

We have taken him to our piggy experts and there is nothing physically wrong apart from his lack of eating.

I have been syringe feeding about 2 days now, and syringing his water.
Hes on meds aswell x

ahh didn't realise, you are doing all you can, i will be thinking of him, come on crumbs eat for mummy.
x

Oh yes do syringe him some food. And smoothie is also a good idea.

Poor little love. Dr has anorexia 0:)

What about that B12 injection? Could you ask your vet?

How are they? keeping well?

Thankyou Lucinda I will see what I can do =] How much is it do you know?

Bev: Chris and Titch are great, busy as usual! We had to catch them on their day off from piggying because he was an emergency!

Is it also important to keep up the vitamin C - I gather they can react to a defficiency really quickly?

I'm sorry Crumbs is not doing very well - what a mystery.

OMG he started cleaning himself and theres white stuff dripping from his nose ?

ok REALLY sorry for triple posting but WOOOOOOO

Hes using his water bottle! ;D ;D ;D

Hi,

Hope he's getting better. If you need to stimulate his appetite try "Swedish Bitters" I got a bottle from the health food shop and it did help when one of mine was off their food. I think the dose was about 1 ml a day, I can check that if you like.

Has he had a shock of some kind that has brought this on? If so, try Bach "Rescue Remedy" My 2 girls went into shock when their mum died and didnt eat or drink for a couple of days, but after Rescue Remedy they soon came round.

All the best
Sue

What are you syringe feeding him? Are you weighing him? He needs 6g of food per 100g of body weight along with some sort of rehydration fluid if he's not drinking. Dioralyte (plain) can be bought in a pharmacy and syringed to him.

I'm confused - has your pig seen a vet? You said in your other post you'd been to Castle Cavies? If not, you MUST get him to a vet. Grinding teeth is often a sign of pain - you said in your post you were given nurofen to give him, was this a vet that gave you this? Ibuprofen can cause serious upset in the digestive system (it works by irritating the lining of the stomach and intestines) and is certainly not something I would give to a pig that wasn't eating. If he is in pain this will also put him off his food.

The bottom line is he really, really needs to see a vet. His teeth should be checked at the very least and have a look at the list on this page here for other things to ask the vet about - http://www.guinealynx.com/anorexia.html
