So apparantly me and my girls cant catch a break! Crunchie is squeeling in pain when passing (assuming) urine. She has a history of blood in urine (visible) which clears with septrin. Shes never been obviously painful when passing urine before. She peed on pad this morning with a squeal- no visible blood but a little gritty. Were on septrin and loxicom for a UTI and hope to god it clears up- i really cant deal with a stone issue right now with everytjing thats going on with my heart pig Fudge. Any tips welcome.. Any scary stone stories not so much! :(:(

:( Sorry, what a crap time.

We have had a few bladder piggies. Can recommend an xray/utlrasound to rule out stones and putt your mind at rest. It may be she has an inflamed bladder wall and suffers with cystitis. How long has she been on the septrin this time?

x

She just started septrin today- the squealing started last night but i thought it was Mallow- shes in heat just now and squeals/rumbles/popcorns/chatters all at once! Shes always done it and normal for her. But i heard it this morning whilst tending to fudge. So put fudge back and checked crunchie over. Placed her on a puppy pad and just waited for any passings and any squeels so i could see if it was related. She passed poos without any noise, then squeeled and past nothing then squeeled a few mins later and past urine (normal volume and colour but a little gritty). That was 9am this morning, i have her beside me on a pad again as I'm worried about stones and blockage. Gonna stick with the antibs n loxicom for 2 days at least and if no change, get her scanned/xrayed.

As you can see, she isnt that fussed.

I think i must have done something wrong in a past life!

Thanks for the reply x

I know it is tough but remember your girls could have ended up with someone who doesn't care as much. You are such a caring owner. What dose of metacam is she on? Sending your girl lots of love and vibes x

Sounds like you are doing the right thing and it will take another day or two for the septrin to start doing it's thing. The major warning to watch out for is if she stops peeing at all... Then she needs seen ASAP as if there is a stone and it obstructs then things are a lot more serious.

Sounds more like she is just one of the many irritable bladder piggies that we have on TGPF though and hopefully what you are doing will help. Glucosamine might be helpful longer term to keep her bladder in good condition. You can get vegan capsules or use Cystease, like we do for Angus....

Good luck!

Going through similar with my Amy and need to get her scanned too. I think a scan would help put your mind at rest.

Then passed these poos... Anyone idea whats going on with these?!

Theyre normal other than a hole in 4 of them with a clear film covering the hole? Its like a bubble but took more to burst it than a bubble would. She has small amount dried (looks like) blood on her bottom but unsure where its from as her urine isnt bloody.

.. Anyone any further advice now new info has come to light?!... Confused.com!

She's still on Septrim and Loxicom? That should help with pain relief and any infection.

I have a bladder stone pig, so won't go too much into the details. But, I have increased his water intake, to try to keep any sludge/grit flowing through and out, and also he has a Cystitis type tablet called Cystassist. The usual stuff is Cystease and you get it from the vet. Cystassist is off Amazon and is the same thing according to my vet (and much cheaper).

Try to reduce calcium rich veg and limit any pellets she has.

Oh, and maybe a bit more floor time. I find having my boy out makes him pee more (usually on the carpet where the puppy pad isn't) and that keeps things jiggling around inside. It's harder to shift sludge and grit if it settles

Already on it with the cucumber haha. I'll see how we go and if it turns out to be a cystitis problem i'll keep in mind the one off of amazon thank you :)

As Jaycey said , Watery veg like cucumber keep the blader flushed,
Pesonaly all mine get about a 2inch peice each day.
That and cage higine and routinely trimed bum hair
Are probabaly the best defence against bladder probs:tu:

The strange holey poos could just be a blip. Keep an eye out for small, teardrop poops, as these can be a sign of low throughput, which is not good for piggies. If she has a UTI/stone that is uncomfortable, it may have some effect on her guts as they are in the same area, but if she is eating OK, it's probably fine.
