My guinea pigs both have crusty noses. I thought it was pumpkin but pebbles has it too. It's a gold/green coloured snot thing. Is it a sign of an illness?

I would definitely pop them along to the vet for a check up.
It may be an infection, in which case it will need treatment, but hopefully you have caught it early and it isn't anything serious.

Think for the worst and hope for the best. If it is a uri or something, the earlier you treat it the better and easier to clear it up

Thanks you guys! I will hopefully schedule a place at the vets soon xx

Take that back, I got told by my parents they just have a cold everyone has colds. I tried to explain they don't have colds and they were sneezing and have a really stuffed nose.

I suggest you show your parents this forum thread to help them understand why it is important to go to the vet.
2 well experienced people have advised a vet trip and this is good advice.

Yes I will, on google it says it is fatal... I couldn't imagine my life without them.. I want them to get the help they need. Let me go do this.

Ok... I feel like i'm making a scene but i found a tiny bit of crust by the eye.. Barely any in the nose but they are not well.

You need to insist that your parents help you take them to the vet. They have a legal right to take them to the vet. As you are a minor it is their responsibility to make sure that they they are kept well. It is one of the five freedoms of animal welfare.

I Will try tomorrow as i have to go to bed. I am crying at the fact they might be joining the rainbow bridge soon.. I hope they get better.. I hope I hope my parents take them..

Fingers very firmly crossed that your parents "see the light" and take them to the vet.🤞🤞

I really hope that your parents are able to understand that it is their responsibilty to make sure your guinea pigs recive the appropriate care.
If they really feel unable to deal with the responsibilty, then maybe suggest that they consider surrendering to a rescue?

the main thing is i don't understand how they got this... Something they ate?

I fully understand. I don't think I could give them up but my parents have said if I can't look after them they will be going to a rescue. They won't be going to a vet unless they don't eat or drink. Which they are just laying in the cage basically dead.

I don't know if you can see the image but she has a blood coloured mark on her fur! There isn't any cuts or anything

I can’t see anything. All you can do is try and convince them to take them to the vet. If they won’t then I’m afraid you’ll have to give them up (to a rescue) as soon as possible so they can get the care they need. It’s not fair to let them die just because they don’t want to take them.

Sorry you find yourself in this situation but it seems a fairly regular thing with children who take on piggies.

I..I understand... I will try until we have to let them go.. it's painful everything is better than seeing my piggies die.
Thank you

Have they agreed to taking them to be seen?

This is fantastic news - well done for convincing them to take them to a vet.
You are doing a wonderful job advocating for your guinea pigs.

Are you able to contact the vets and book an appointment off your own back without needing parents permission?
