So I got up this morning to take Toffee out for his cuddles and I noticed he has a lot of crusties under his eye! I've been told that it's because he's old and its nothing to worry about but I just want a second opinion from more experienced people, I'm not 100% sure how to explain these crusties and he's not for sitting still till I take a photo :(

Dittos had a runny crusty eye for a few weeks now, he had a hay poke months back which was seen by a vet thats all healed now but his eye is still runny.. I'm buying some optrex eye drops today to try

I would take him to your vets just to get it checked out, I'm pretty sure crusting around the eyes is not normal even in elderly pigs and the fact that you've noticed it as being abnormal for your pig also suggests an issue. If it's actually the skin below the eye that's affected it could be the start of a fungal infection or if it's discharge from the eye itself it could be a symptom of various other things (URI, dental issues, eye infection) that need prompt veterinary treatment. There is also the possibility that it's due to him not washing properly but I still think it's best to see a cavy savvy vet.
