Sorry about the title, hope nobodys eating!

Hermione is a skittish pig so I try to respect her wishes and not pick her up too often, however, I had to pick her up on Saturday as she needed her nails clipped.
While I had her there I gave her a quick checkover and noticed one of her ear flaps was very hard but not swollen. I put some coconeem oil on it and the scab (if you can call it a scab as it was just dried skin) fell off in one piece leaving the skin underneath soft and quite pink, but not weepy. I gave her some pain relief just in case it was sore but she's not scratching it or anything and she's fine in herself.

I've had another look today and it's becoming hard again, what on earth is it? And what can I put on it? Is the coconeem safe?

Thanks for any help :)

Hi Ree. :)

It sounds like it could be a fungal problem, maybe worth trying an anti-fungal cream, applying it 2-3 times daily for a week and then see how it's progressing. Canesten is one some people have had success with, or there are a few Gorgeous Guineas lotions that may help.

scabby ear

Hi this sounds to me rather like the condition on another thread of a piggy with scabby nipples, try a little aloe vera tto soften the scab and gently scrape with a finger nail as you did before .It sounds like it is is just dried -on grime

ive had pigs with same trouble, it has always been just dried skin, more a case of pig needing a wah and brushup
