Hi!

Hope you are all well and enjoying what you can of the sunshine!

So, my boy Gibson came back from his holiday with one black, crusty nipple (they are usually dark coloured). The crust seemed to dissipate once he was back on his bedding (vetbed - think he was kept on hay while boarding).

He came out yesterday for his cuddles and he now has two crusty nipples. There's no redness, they're not swollen, but they definitely feel scabby. Is there anything I should do? I have loads of Gorgeous Guineas bits and pieces (the creams for dry skin etc.), but don't want to potentially mask a problem..

On another note Higgins has dry crusty eyes, one in particular seems to have developed an ingrowing lash..!

Perhaps a double vet visit?!

I think a vet trip for both boys is a sensible precaution, especially for an eye condition as even minor eye injuries or irritation can deteriorate and become serious very fast!
Especially if they've been in boarding and you dont know exactly how they were kept or what other animals were around.
Fingers crossed its nothing serious, but best to check with the vet first.
We have a piggy with crusty nipples and luckily the vet concluded it was just where they had rubbed on the floor and we just need to keep them clean and moisturised, and the gorgeous guineas products are great for that.
But please ask a vet first just to make sure!

Thanks @PigglePuggle I think you're right; I'll get them both booked in..

They've been home a few weeks but really didn't like being away (I think that might have been to do with the lack of food.. I'm a bit of a feeder!)

Glad your piggy was Ok!

Please have them vet checked. Boars can suffer from mammary issues as well.
