My piggies are on antibiotics for their URI but one had a very crusty, sore looking nose. I wondered does anyone know something I could put on to ease the soreness until his vet trip Sunday? Cotton wool and warm water he was not having! Lol. Any advice appreciated xx

Warm water or saline solution (1 tsp of salt dissolved in 1 pint/500ml of boiled cooled water) is the best thing at the moment. But he won't like it! Poor boy!

Thank you! I will try. Makes me feel so guilty! Lol

PS: If the crustiness is very bad, you might like to ask your vet on your next visit for a mucus dissolvent like bisolvon powder to help get it out of the body.

I did try last time but they seemed to think he wasn't that bad. I've taken them at the end of every course and they always say oh they're not too bad but they still sneeze abnormally maybe I'll make a bit of a fuss lol!

Yes I think he will be in for another round of antibiotics, his 3rd now

I put vapour rub on the cages walls this seems to help, when I have a bath or shower I take my piggies with the crusty noses in the bathroom and shut the door, this steams their faces, bisolvon, a pinch in a syringe of water will help, I put a quarter of a vit c tablet in their food. hope this helps, i am in going through this with wally my 1 year old piggie, can i clean them out everyday this helps as well.

Those are great ideas thank you! I have another 2 weeks antibiotics. As they are living inside currently they do get cleaned out once a day so hopefully that's helping

They are near the end of their 6th week of antibiotics and we are in the midst of a fungal infection as well! Apart from that, they're doing fairly well! Their routine takes me hours! Lol
