Was outside cleaning out my boys today.
And noticed that Norman(The newest addition) has a crusty nose only on side.
I cleaned it up with warm water and cotton wool.
Is it worth a trip to the vets? he doesn't seem out of charcter

Is it anything like this?

If so it's probably ringworm and you should go to your vets who will be able to confirm if it is and will be able to give you a shampoo (i.e. malaseb or imavoral) to cleanse it. Ringworm is contagious though so it would be a good idea to get a fungal disinfectant and make sure you wash your hands after handling him. Canesten cream is good to use on fungal infections too, but go to your vets first to confirm that this is what it is.

Hope this helps

No its nothing like that, It looks like dried up snot,If that is any help to anyone

If in doubt, have him seen by a vet for URI (respiratory infection) especially as he is a newbie, but it can just be from hay dust or a bit of hay stuck in the nose.

I have a tube of Daktarin athletes foot cream (safe for guineas) which i use for anything like this. It could just be a sore or a scab which we all get from time to time or a small infection. Get a tube of Daktarin- rub a little little bit in once a day and if its an infection it should clear up in a few weeks.

I'd definitely get him checked out for URI. Noses in most any animal are full of bacteria normally. They live in perfect balance and are natural/essential. If they get out of balance, you get an infection of one or other bacteria. It can pop up at anytime. The important thing is that he's eating so you can nip it in the bud without any real problem if it is an infection. If it is, a quick course of anti-biotics will see him right again :)

He sneezes a little bit. But not exsessivley, I picked off all the dried up snot today from around his nostril and cleaned it with warm salt water. He's eating and drinking. I'm going to see in the morning if its the same crusty snot type thing. And if so take him to the vet as i will know that its happening alot not just one time.
Dont think it could be hayfever do you?
