Hi, just become mum on Sat to two female guinea pigs, sisters, 10wks old. They seem to be settling well and are happy to listen to me chatting away but should we be trying to pick them up and cuddle them yet? They are living inside and we have a run for outside play but are unsure how soon to start putting them out and handling them?

Hi Juls,

yes it is a good idea to cuddle them ever day, you can also brush them. 10 wks old should be ok to go out just keep an eye on them O0

you give them a few days to settle in, whilst talking to them so they get use to you. try taking them out for a cuddle wrapped in a towel so they feel safe. offer treats so they associate cuddles with good things, as for the out door run i would wait a week or two until they are use to you and their new home O0 welcome to the forums from me and the girls in oz :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping your girls settle in real soon O0 and pictures please ;D ;D ;D
