is the stuffing in cuddly toys ok to use in piggy cuddle cups etc? can you wash the cuddle cups with that stuffing in it? it would be easier for me to get hold of cuddly toys with stuffing in them then wadding...

all answers appreciated! :)

Hi, welcome to the forum :)

I make toys and i use wadding you can get form dunelm millshttp://www.dunelm-mill.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?freeText=wadding&storeId=10551&catalogId=14100&langId=-1 and online cheaper if you buy a lot in one go.

These are the thing's i make www.guineapigcomforts.weebly.com
if you get stuck i will be happy to help

Thanks 4piggiepigs and the items you sell are lovely!
What gram do you get when you buy wadding from Dunelm Mill?

I use 270g but it wont go through a machine easily you will have to squish it as it goes through loosen the tension and larger stitches, 200 works just as well and is easier to use the 70g is like cotton wool and comes apart easily so i dont use that one

ahh, thanks so much 4piggiepigs-quick reply too!
i do the sowing by hand atm, because i've only really just started making piggie things and sowing- might get a machine in the future though.
i will get 200 gram probs! Or do you think 270 g would be better for sowing by hand? and where do you get your fleeces?
i've seen them at primark, john lewis and the range(expensive) aswell, but i can't seem to find any really nice patterns.

sorry for all these questions... but you seem like an expert when it comes to making piggie things....:)

Most of my fleece comes from ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Fabric-/2...ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m1539&Material=Fleece

I've been making things for a year and a half so plenty of practice, i would go with anti pill polar fleece as they are less stretchy than blankets and not as high quality, if your sewing by hand both wadding work well i sew mine to the inside fleece pieces as it helps it stand better

sorry 4piggiepigs, but two more questions for you: i assume it's ok to wash the item with wadding inside it?
&
so if I made a cuddle cup I would sew the wadding onto the fleece and then have the wadding covered by fleece on both sides? or something like that...

oh yeah, i proberbly will need to look for some threads/vids on here/youtube on how to make piggie items...otherwise it will be a complete disaster!
