Curating a custom cage (wooden)

I am hoping to create a wooden cage of which my piggies can be happy and safe in. It would be located at the end of my bed. It's around 1.5 meters squared. Any material suggestions? e.g. chip

Does it have to be wooden? C&C maybe a good option. You could customise it to suit when needed

I think you can buy laminated panels, you know the kind flat back tends to be made of that's just chipboard with a plastic coating. It makes the wood then pee proof! If you use silcon/aquarium/bathroom sealant in the edges it will stop the pee seeping through the joints too.
