Hi everyone,

I have 2, 11-12 week old guinea pigs, they are both girls and one is curious and nibbles everything, the other is more reserved and is the boss piggy, she has made that very clear to her cage mate, when I Go to pet the curious girly she lifts her head up sniffs the air and tries to nibble me , she lives for food and honestly I think she just thinks everything is food, my other piggy does not do this.

My question is will my food crazy girly grow out of trying to nibble me constantly?

I mean she got so excited earlier when I cleaned her cage and smelled the fresh hay that she started nibbling her bed and even her cage mate as she thought she had food in her mouth ( it was poo btw) and her cage mate got annoyed at her.

My kids never really want to pet her as they think she will bite them but I know she is just curious and thinks they have food!

Thank you for reading.

We’ve had the odd pig like this, Rocky does it so when he first nibbled he was very gentle so we just let him get on with it without pulling away so he could understand it wasn’t food! He soon stopped when he decided it actually didn’t taste very nice at all 😅
Meanwhile Coco only does it if you put your finger to the bars thinking it’s a snack. Once you open the door and put your hand in, she sniffs nicely instead!
