I just wondered why it took so long for my piggies to have babies? I know that we definately got them the first week of September last year, Aaron wanted them for his birthday July but we had a holiday booked for August so although we paid for them they stayed with the breeder till we returned from our holiday and yet its May now and she has only just had babies, thats probably why I was so shocked to see the babies!

because they are completely fully formed...just like a miniture adult. Rabbits are born after just 32 days but they are furless, deaf, blind, can't walk and completely helpless.

Sow are a bit picky with who they allow to hump them, may be the boar had to wooh her, they only carry for 65 to 70 days.

Sometimes the mating doesn't take, other reasons could be the sow won't accept the boar or they didn't mate at the right time. Some guineas are incompatible (obviously since yours have produced a litter they're not). There are quite a few reasons why your guineas didn't produce a litter sooner. ;)

just look at humans. You put a bloke and a woman together and they can have sex for months without her getting pregnant. It's exactly the same with piggies.
