Looking for a wee bit reassuring...
I’ve accidentally cut my girls nail too short & made it bleed. She’s got black nails so hard to judge.
I’ve cleaned nail with cooled boiled water & dried it and also popped a bit of corn flour on it ( as per advice on gp site) it’s stopped bleeding and she’s ok. It had stopped bleeding by time I’d got her back out the hutch.
Feel so bad. Her nails and feet are in good condition so should be ok?

I’ve done this a few times to my boys and you always feel so bad when they squeak but piggies are very forgiving creatures. She’ll be fine and you’re bond with her should remain as longer as you feed her veggies of course!

She will be fine, it's easily done! The other week I didnt even notice I had cut a nail on one of my girls too short and came back to bloody foot prints all over the bath! But it had already stopped bleeding by itself by the time I had finished cleaning out the girls pen and noticed. So while it's best to apply pressure straight away and stop the bleeding as fast as you can, they'll stop on their own, eventually, it's not a huge deal unless you cut a huge amount off. Although saying that, when he was younger my boy Leonard bit one of his off down to the toe over night and even that stopped bleeding by itself, so long as he didnt knock it on anything.

I did this to one of my boys for the first time last week and felt terrible! He is okay though :) a baby cucumber made him forgive me lol.

I've done it a couple of times too, particularly on pigs with dark nails. It happens. They have never had an issue afterwards, so I really think she will be okay.

She’ll be fine. I haven’t done it to one of my piggies yet, but I did it to my 40 kilo black lab and my goodness it was a nightmare! I couldn’t get the blood to stop and he wouldn’t stay still. I would hope that piggies aren’t as bad. 😂

Panic not.
Jemimah managed to tear out a nail on her very first floor time.
Cue - one guilty feeling slave, one mat with little bloody paw prints, one ruined tee-shirt.
Jemimah didn't care and the nail grew back fine.

You are not the only one.
Ruby is my worst to be honest - she isn't an easy pig to handle at the best of times, but the minute I pull out that nail clippers she acts like a guinea pig that has just drank a can of Red Bull.
Honestly, the entire family start hyperventilating when I announce it's time to cut Ruby's nails (yes - it does take 3 of us to do it).

It's a bit like cutting your own nails too short, or cutting your finger or toe. A bit sore for a short time, but no lasting damage. Don't beat yourself up, she'll be fine. I think we've all done it. X

😂😂😂😂 this is only the 3rd Time we have done nail cutting... I do the cutting & holding but I can see it stresses my lot out, by my lot I mean my hubby, daughter aNd son! My older girl, Princess, is super chillled, JC who I made bleed is the skittery one! She actually sits really nice if you get her the right way. If she’s flat on my lap she tries to crawl in my jumper, up my sleeve, anything to get away!
I think I’m forgiven, got,them mint today 😋

🙈 I think my hubby might’ve fainted at that! I’m the calm one in an emergency situation!

Oh dear, hope you are ok. JC will be fine, it’s us humans that panic. I’ve had a few whoops moments too and cut the quick it’s easily done. Hope princesses feet are getting better too.

Thanks lovely... yeah only the tiniest of marks in her foot. Signed off from the vet.
They’re absolutely hilarious, make us laugh everyday. My hubby is actually most smitten I think after my little girl. Jc is so cheeky
