I just noticed that Quinn has been bleeding from his claw. It is really hard to see the quick but I didn't cut much, I feel really bad.
Will he be ok?
Will he be ok?
It should stop bleeding within 5 minutes; if it doesn't, please see the vet.
I would recommend to disinfect the toe later on with a mild disinfectant or some saline solution (1tsp of salt dissolved in 1 pint of boiled, cooled water).
Once the initial upset it over, things should settle down quickly and you won't see any limping.![]()
I always have some cornflour at hand when I'm nail clipping my own piggies or when I'm on nail clipping duties at Bunny Burrows. They have some Bob Martin's dusting powder which you just puff onto a bleeding nail. In the past this has all I've used & the bleeding never lasts for long.
Stem the blood I use cotton wool or kitchen towel and apply light pressure for a few minutes. When stopped dip his toe in mild salt solution and keep an eye on.him![]()
I'm going to have to buy cornflour. He has let me put a little saline on the claw but hopefully he'll be in a better mood tomorrow!
Do you have any Sudocrem... ? if so use that .. we take it the bleeding has stopped now..
If its dry.. it should heal naturally no need for cornflour..
For the future as little accidents happen a septic pen is a good thing to have at hand..
Lisa & Ali.. xx
I have Sudocrem somewhere but I can easily buy some more tomorrow since it's also good for my skin when it breaks out. It stopped bleeding pretty quick. Where would I get a septic pen?![]()

Any chemist or supermarket - defo in Asda..
Since it stopped bleeding pretty quick.. it wasn't a deep cut.. usually when we cut the quick one of us is wearing a white T-shirt...
Quinn is probably playing the wounded soldier to get more veggies..
