Cut Quick

Ive only cut too short once years ago. Does it matter what flour type it is? Do I disinfect it?

cornflour usually to stop the bleeding unless you happen to have a stypic pen (I think thats what its called). As long as the bleeding stops shortly then they should be fine.

I only had plain flour, the bleeding has stopped but I'm going to use a salt and cool boiled water solution as I don't have any normal saline solution

I don't think the type of salt necessarily matters.Just be careful as washing it may reopen to more bleeding. If it does then pop a little more flour on and leave it to close

Ok, thanks. Just very nervous as an addition of an infection to past gas/bloat wouldn't be a good time

I think infection is highly unlikely. I have cut the quick numerous times, I got Willow quite bad a couple of weeks back and didn't think it was going to stop bleeding (she went from perfectly still to deciding to kick out just as I clipped). These piggies can be such a worry at times

Cornflour is a bit more absorbent, but normal flour will do, too. See a vet if the bleeding doesn't stop within about 5-10 minutes and if it continues as a trickle.

You can disinfect once the bleeding has stopped and things have settled down a bit, either with hibicrub or saline solution.

I don't think I have any of those, I'll look though. Would salt and boiled cool water do if not?

You can make saline yourself by stirring 1 teasppon of salt into 1/2 pint /250 ml of boiled cooled water.
