Puzzlepigs
Adult Guinea Pig
I'm now feeling really awful as when I was cutting Bingo's (my long haired piggy) claws, she suddenly moved and I cut the quick. It's the first time I've cut the quick, so to me it looked pretty awful when it started bleeding. Bingo has dark brown claws so it's very hard to know where to trim, but I did only intend to cut the tip off the claw (I only ever take the tip off, to prevent cutting the quick), but as she moved the claw clippers must have slid upwards causing me to cut the quick.
She didn't squeal at all or seem distressed but I'm now left feeling really cruel as I obviously didn't mean to cut the quick and I'm also wondering whether I should put anything on the claw to help it heal. I know you can get a special powder to stop it bleeding but there isn't really any point seeing as it stopped bleeding after about 2 minutes. Is there anything I should do, or is it best to leave it alone?
