Cutting Claws?

Hi everyone I am new. I have 4 female piggies. My piggies all live together with a peramnent run attched to the hutch.But their claws are gettung long again. Last time they needed trimming I took them to a lovely lady in a pet shop and she did them, but she has left and the others won't do it. I don't want to take them vets and have to sit there for ages with dogs barking and my poor piggies quivering. I have looked at the clippers you can get out of pet shops, but am worried I might cut too short near the quick and make them bleed. Any advice please? If I do cut too short, is it painful to the piggy and does it bleed a lot?
 
Ah, just read the post about cutting claws in the section above. Doh!
 
havent read through that but if your pig has clear nails your not going to hit the quick because you can see it, with dark nails i just clip off the ends to be on the safe side, the will squeak loudly even if you dont hit the quick so dont let them put you off lol

I notice from your other thread that you say you live in Northamptonshire. If ever you need to take your piggies to a vet I can thoroughly recommend the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic in Duston, Northamptonshire. This vet only deals with Cats, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and other small animals. No noisy dogs in this surgery which makes for a far more pleasant visit. :)

Glad to see you managed to cut their nails. Your confidence will grow each time you do them! :)
